LAS VEGAS (June 6, 2018) – Desert Radiology, a premier diagnostic imaging center, has won numerous awards for outstanding medical excellence over the 50+ years it has been servicing communities of Southern Nevada. This month, their list of accolades became even longer when Vegas Inc.’s Health Care Quarterly recognized five of the center’s radiologists as Top Docs for 2018.

Winning doctors included Dr. Rajneesh Agrawal, Dr. Paul Bandt, Dr. Ashkok Gupta, Dr. Steve Topham, and Dr. Alan Weissman, causing Desert Radiology to dominate the award’s Radiology category.

Vegas Inc.’s Health Care Quarterly determines which physicians make the Top Docs list by tapping the power of unbiased referrals. Every year, 6,000 doctors, dentists, and medical professionals in the Southern Nevada area are anonymously surveyed about which of their peers they would highly recommend in a given set of specialties. The thousands of answers are tallied and compiled into a list of the top names in each category.

“Our mission is to stay on the cutting edge of radiology so that we can best serve our community,” says Matthew T. Grimes, COO of Desert Radiology. “Health Care Quarterly is a trusted name in our industry and we are honored to have made the list and that so many of our peers would refer their patients to us.”

In the medical industry, trusted referrals are revered as the best resource for making an informed decision when choosing a doctor. Certainly, referrals from a patient’s friends and family members are an excellent way to navigate choices, but even more powerful are referrals from other trusted physicians that understand the complexities of quality patient care.

“Being named as a 2018 Top Doc is certainly a testament to our excellent radiologists who are continuously raising the bar when it comes to quality patient care,” says Richard E. Bodager, CEO of Desert Radiology. “We look forward to more great years of collaboration with each of them.”

Desert Radiology, a premier diagnostic imaging company that has served Southern Nevada for over 50 years, has been designated once again as a Diagnostic Imaging Center of Excellence™ (DICOE) by the American College of Radiology (ACR).

The DICOE program, which represents the pinnacle of medical imaging care, is an achievement that goes beyond accreditation to recognize best-quality imaging practices and diagnostic care. This includes a comprehensive assessment of the entire medical imaging enterprise, including structure and outcomes. The DICOE designation recognizes excellence at multiple levels — including the professional staff, the technology and the policies and procedures the organization follows — and superior patient care.

In order to receive this elite distinction, facilities must be accredited by the ACR in all modalities they provide, and in which the ACR offers an accreditation program. Another requirement is to participate in the Dose Index Registry® and General Radiology Improvement Database, as well as Image Wisely® and Image Gently®.

The ACR, founded in 1924, is one of the largest and most influential medical associations in the United States. The ACR devotes its resources to making imaging and radiation therapy safe, effective and accessible to those who need it. Its 36,000 members include radiologists, radiation oncologists, medical physicists, interventional radiologists and nuclear medicine physicians.
