What is Interventional
Oncology?

Interventional oncology is minimally invasive therapy for patients with liver, colorectal, lung, bone/soft tissue, kidney, and metastatic cancers.

Transarterial Chemoembolization (TACE)

Transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) is a treatment for liver cancer that uses imaging guidance to target the vessels supplying blood to the liver tumor.

Transarterial Chemoembolization

How it Works

TACE places chemotherapy and synthetic materials called embolic agents into the blood vessels feeding a cancerous tumor, which cuts off the tumor's blood supply and traps the chemotherapy within the tumor. It is most often used to treat liver cancer but may be used in patients whose cancer has spread to other areas of the body. Chemoembolization may be used as a standalone treatment or in combination with surgery, ablation, chemotherapy or radiation therapy.
