Dr. Varun Mitroo received his bachelor’s degree in molecular biology from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, in 1990. He earned his doctorate from The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, in 1994. Dr. Mitroo completed an internship in internal medicine at Roger Williams Hospital at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, in 1995. He attended his first year of diagnostic radiology residency in 1995 at The Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, and his second year at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City in 1996. Dr. Mitroo’s third and fourth year of diagnostic radiology residency was spent at St. Barnabas Medical Center from 1997 to 1999. At Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York City, he completed a neuroradiology fellowship from 1999 to 2000. Dr. Mitroo is board certified by the American College of Radiology and has a certificate of added qualification in neuroradiology.
Dr. Mitroo has over 20 years of experience working in radiology at various practices around the U.S. Before joining Desert Radiology, Dr. Mitroo was a radiologist at Radiology Specialists, Ltd. for one year. He spent three years at US Radiology On Call as a nighthawk radiologist from 2014 to 2017 in Santa Monica, California. Before then, he held the role of radiologist at Community Medical Imaging in Fresno, California, for seven years. Dr. Mitroo was at Radiology Associates of the Main Line in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, from 2001 to 2007, where he was a radiologist. From 2000 to 2001, he served as a radiologist at Salem Radiology Associates P.A. in Salem, New Jersey. When Dr. Mitroo was completing his radiology studies, he received numerous awards and recognitions. In 1992, he placed first in The Ohio State University College of Medicine Landacre Research Society annual poster presentation. He was given the Roessler Memorial Scholarship at The Ohio State University College of Medicine in 1991, 1993 and 1994 and was named student of the year in the department of radiology in 1994 at that same university. At RSNA InfoRad, Dr. Mitroo was Magna Cum Laude in 1994. He was also on the Dean’s List at Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Mitroo has his medical license in eight states.
