Dr. Peterson graduated from UC Santa Barbara in 1991 with Dean’s Honors, earning a Bachelors of Arts in Political Science. Following that, in 1997 he earned an Associates of Science in Biology and an Associates of Arts in Natural Science from College of Marin. Dr. Peterson received his Medical Degree in 2002 from Touro University College of Osteopathic Medicine, graduating with Dean’s Honors. He completed his diagnostic radiology residency at Michigan State University/Henry Ford Health System in 2012.
Dr. Peterson continued his medical career at the University of Southern California, completing a fellowship in advanced body imaging with emphasis on body and MSK MRI, CT/US guided body procedures, ER radiology & PET/CT, in July 2013. He also completed a second mini-fellowship at USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Institute in PET/CT and nuc med with emphasis on oncological diagnosis and treatment, from July-October 2013.
Dr. Peterson is a U.S. Navy Veteran, and he served as General Medical Officer, Department Head and eventually Senior Medical Officer at the Branch Clinics at Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton. While stationed at Camp Pendleton, he also served as the Brig Medical Officer at United States Marine Corps Base Correctional Facility. In addition to his military experience, Dr. Peterson was an AOCR Lecture Committee Distinct Resident Member at Michigan State University and was honored as an AOCR 2011 Annual Convention Resident Exhibit Award Winner. Dr. Peterson joined Desert Radiology in 2014 as a teleradiologist.
