UPDATE: MARCH 18, 2020
Dear Valued Patients and Healthcare Providers,
During widespread social and economic uncertainty driven by this global health crisis, we are all facing unprecedented challenges. In mere days, we have transitioned from a vibrant community to experiencing the near-total shutdown of our great city. Following Governor Sisolak's announcement yesterday evening, it is vital, more than ever, that organizations and community partners like ours act to help slow down the spread of COVID-19.
We are an essential part of the healthcare system in Nevada, and we will continue to do our part in providing critical services to our community. However, to continue to provide these services, we will need to amend business operations to accommodate this evolving situation. We kindly ask for your flexibility, patience, and understanding during this undeniably difficult time.
Our primary goal is to continue protecting and safeguarding the health of our patients, teammates, and the community. We are doing our best to uphold these objectives, while minimizing the potential impact, as much as possible, to our service delivery and operations.
To that point, we will be temporarily amending some of our normal operating policies and procedures in accordance with the American College of Radiology’s recommendations. It is important to note that information regarding COVID-19 continues to evolve, and we will remain flexible as details are provided.
Effective today, March 18th, we will be implementing a COVID-19 screening process at all Desert Radiology facilities. Patients will be evaluated for possible virus exposure before entering our facilities. Patients that show high risk will not be able to complete diagnostic testing and will be directed to their PCP for further evaluation. Patients showing symptoms will be asked to wear a protective mask. If asked, the patient will be a required to wear the mask properly in order to complete the exam.
In addition, since the onset of this outbreak, we have acted swiftly in providing remote work options for our non-clinical staff to reduce the number of employees in our facilities. We are carefully monitoring all employees, and any employee that is displaying symptoms or has had direct contact with a COVID-19 patient is been instructed to go home for a 14-day quarantine.
We are making the safety of both our patients and our teammates our top priority and voluntarily closing our Sandy Ridge, South Rainbow, and St. Rose imaging facilities effective Monday, March 23rd. Additionally, we will, for the time being, discontinue weekend operations at all Desert Radiology facilities.
We are mindful that all the other disease occurrences are not stopping because of this pandemic. We are aware that we play a critical role in the diagnosis, management, and treatment of diseases for our community. To continue our service as a vital resource for the critical diagnosis and per recommendations of the American College of Radiology, Desert Radiology will postpone the scheduling of all NON-URGENT examinations for at least 30 days, effective Monday, March 23. This includes, but is not limited to, all DEXA, Screening Mammography, and CT Lung Screenings. This postponement in services also includes all NON-URGENT CT, MRI, Fluoroscopy, and Ultrasound examinations. Patients that are currently scheduled for any of the above-mentioned NON-URGENT exams, will be contacted and rescheduled for a date after April 20th.
Lastly, to encourage and support social distancing, we will be implementing a new virtual check-in process at all Desert Radiology facilities. This new process will follow the recommended social distancing guidelines published by the Centers for Disease Control and local health authorities. Furthermore, it will safeguard our valued patients and aid in slowing down the spread of COVID-19 in our community.
At this moment, we cannot guarantee what additional counter measures we may need to employ, but whatever we do will be with the focus of protecting the health and safety of our community. The health and well-being of our patients, teammates and their families will remain our top priority.
Our community has been tested before, and our spirit, while slightly diminished during this difficult time, is still very strong. The experiences of our past may be changed from those of today, but there is one consistency through them all. Now more than ever we must have faith and continue to care for one another. We will make it through together and come out in the end better and be VEGAS STRONGER!
UPDATE: MARCH 13, 2020
There is no higher priority than the health, safety and well-being of our patients and teammates. We are closely monitoring the recent outbreak of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) and continue to follow guidelines set forth by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the World Health Organization and local health authorities.
Since the early reports of the outbreak, we have implemented heightened daily cleaning and disinfecting practices throughout all Desert Radiology facilities. Additionally, we have purchased and are supplying added hand sanitizing supplies to both patients and teammates at all DR locations. Lastly, we have secured an inventory of disposable masks to offer to any patients who may present with symptoms.
With our increased efforts and support of our employees, we feel confident that we are doing all we can to provide a safe environment for our patients. It is our goal to ensure that all our patients and staff feel comfortable and confident within our doors.
Desert Radiology facilities currently continue to operate standard business hours. While the risk of contracting COVID-19 remains statistically low, we will remain attentive during this time and make business decisions accordingly, as this situation evolves.
Per CDC guidelines, patients with upper respiratory symptoms who recently traveled to areas infected with COVID-19 should proceed to the hospital for evaluation. Reported illness have ranged from mild to severe with symptoms of fever, cough and shortness of breath that may appear 2-14 days after exposure.
For your well-being, and the safety of others, please stay home if you are sick. If you have an appointment scheduled at one of our facilities and you have a fever, please call us at (702) 759-8600 to reschedule your testing. We will be happy to move your appointment to another day when you are feeling better.
We recognize that this is an unprecedented and difficult time for all. Now more than ever we need to take care of ourselves and one another. Desert Radiology remains deeply committed to the health and safety of our patients, employees and community.
Thank you for allowing us to continue to serve you.
