The Group Behind the Heart of Our Practice
At Desert Radiology, we define the heart of our practice in a single word — community. Whether it be serving our patients through our talented medical staff or staying current on imaging trends, Desert Radiology is always finding ways to better the lives of the Southern Nevada community. April is National Volunteer Month, and we want to celebrate and acknowledge the team members that go above and beyond by donating their time and efforts to local charities and community-driven events, the DR Do-Gooders.
The DR Do-Gooders are a group of team members that have donated thousands of volunteer hours to be a part of something bigger than themselves. Since 2016, they’ve participated in dozens of local charity drives and have raised thousands of dollars for organizations who support Southern Nevadans and the issues they face. Some of the DR Do-Gooder’s largest initiatives have touched countless families and local charities by being a positive force in the Southern Nevada community:
- 25 Days of Giving: A 25-day plan that saw the DR Do-Gooder’s team donating $1,000 a day to Southern Nevada charities like Pawtastic Friends, Project 150, Kline Veterans Fund, Goodie Two Shoes, Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation of Nevada, After-School All-Stars, The LGBTQ Community of Southern Nevada, Blind Center of Nevada and more.
- Back-To-School Backpack Drive: In 2017, the DR Do-Gooders ran a charity drive to fill up 200 backpacks and donated them and additional school supplied to children in need. In 2018, they topped that number and, with the help of over 80 team members, donated 250 backpacks and distributed them to children in need.
- Dry Bottoms Diaper Drive: The DR Do-Gooders successfully donated over 32,000 diapers to over 450 Southern Nevadan families in need.
Even the sudden COVID-19 pandemic could not break the DR Do-Gooders’ spirit and desire to help Southern Nevadans in a time when they needed it most. Throughout the lockdowns and social distancing requirements, the DR Do-Gooders team volunteered their time virtually to local non-profit organizations, where they continued to put the community before themselves.
Today, they still go above and beyond for causes that resonate with our mission to better the lives of others. This month is National Volunteer Month, and we are so proud of all past, present and future team members who’ve been a part of our DR Do-Gooder volunteer program. The rest of the Desert Radiology team appreciates you for your continued efforts and recognizes all the good you do for our community. Your heart and values are at the apex of our mission to better the lives of the Southern Nevada community — and we thank you for all the good you’ve done and will continue to do to carry on our mission beyond just our imaging services.
